The Goldfields Giants are a semi-professional basketball team who compete in the State Basketball League of Western Australia (SBL). The Giants are based in the West Australian regional city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and their home court is the 1200-capacity Neils Hansen Stadium.
Since debuting in the League in 1990, the Giants have reached five SBL Grand Finals culminating in back-to-back championship wins over Lakeside Lightning in 2007 and 2008. Previously they were runners-up in 1995, 2004 and 2006.
In late 2011 the Giants reached a 3-year Naming Rights sponsorship deal with Silver Lake Resources that will result in the Giants being known as the 'Silver Lake Resources Goldfields Giants' until the end of the 2014 SBL season. In addition the Giants announced that former Perry Lakes Hawks assistant coach Daniel Fisher would take over as Head Coach for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
The Giants are one of four clubs from West Australian regional cities (along with the Bunbury Slammers, Geraldton Buccaneers and Mandurah Magic) while ten teams are based within the Perth metropolitan area.
